Texas Men's Lacrosse Club Team Kicks of Spring 2026 with 1st practice of the year January 14th, 2026......

The Texas Men's Lacrosse Club Team commenced with the beginning of their 2026 Spring Season, with their 1st practice of the year, and first team practice under the tutelage of new Head Coach Louie.

Observations and Notes:

  • The team has  1 full time female Athletic Trainer on site for all events, practices, games etc. She is technically an employee of Ascension Medical yet is hired by Texas Rec Sports. A kind intelligent, caring woman whom helps the players.
  • The Team is coming off 3 straight years of LSA (Lone Star Alliance) Conference Championships
  • I visually head counted roughly 38-40 +/- players in participation on the field for the team's first practice of the year
  • From 6-8 pm, Jan 14th the weather was a cool, manageable 59 degrees Fahrenheit with some light winds.
  • Standard Lacrosse Drills occurred; passing, catching, lefty, righty, offensive half court sets & attacks, 1on 1 active offense and defense dodging drills, full field goalie team clearing action, etc. 
  • I counted 3 Goalies suit up for practice
  • There is also a Face-Off Specialist section of practice
  • The Texas's Team practice gear looks sharp. All on field players looked gainfully equipped and cleated.
  • A Pre-Season All American #41 Midfielder, Jack Eigen is expected to be a leader and force for this squad this season
  • The team currently practices Monday thru - Friday 6-8 pm @ Caven Field on Campus. It's just a beautiful setting, with fellow collegiate students running and exercising on the outside track, under the lights.
  • GVM opinion insert, the team coaches and players appear to be committed and ready for an adventurous full 2026 Spring Season!

      This Texas Longhorn Lax Team practices daily during the work week. These players and coaches are committed to the 2026 Season. I'm rooting for them. --GVM

Simply put; There's a lot going on! The Texas Intramural Fields circa 51 & Guadalupe street are looking pristine, upgraded, green, well-kept and ready for action. I witnessed a festival of lacrosse! Every field in sight my eyes could advance and venture to was brimming with Active Youth or High Lacrosse players, coaches, parents, volunteers, friends or family. The Scrimmage that Felt & Lived like a Game. Texas Longhorns emerge Victorious 10-8 over the Div. 3 Southwestern Pirates

 Cold Night, Hot Lacrosse Action.  January 30th 2026. On a chilly cold winter night, The Texas Men's Lacrosse team began their 2026 Spring season with a Scrimmage vs the Div. 3 Level Southwestern Pirates from Georgetown, TX. It was an abundant crowd, that was well-bundled up and coated for a cold evening. Those of us fans whom did show up in person, were gifted an intense match of legit dual-team effort, timely coach strategized time-outs and impressive lacrosse gameplay action.   The game in general was refereed fairly, as both teams were able to play aggressively and yellow flag penalties were only thrown when warranted. Some basic insights I gathered from Southwestern parents and alumni in the crowd. Southwestern is a small 1,200+/- person Methodist religion based, liberal arts college, with yearly tuition at an astronomical $60,000 per year.
