Texas Longhorns Ranked #13 Travel to Provo, Utah to play #2 Ranked BYU Cougars. Result = Loss for Texas.

February 19th, 2026 online streaming viewer alumni reporter George Vance McGee

First impressions of the game as an online viewer: Wow those snowy Utah Mountains in the background look beautiful! The announcers stated the game temperature was circa 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Texas was in away full burnt-orange uniforms.

BYU scored 3 easy looking goals to start the Game. Texas had some turnovers. BYU 3, Texas zero.  KSL Sports was the online streaming company. BYU scores again and it's 4-0. Will Texas Score? Yes, the goose egg is broken. It's now 4-1 BYU, with Texas on the scoreboard.

No visual snow on the field. The game appears to have occurred at the Provo High School Field in Utah. Texas Player Jack Eigen wore Jersey #57 this game. Laundry malfunction?

Texas scores two times. It's BYU 5, Texas 3. Next up, money goal for the Horns. BYU 5, Texas 4. End of the 1st quarter.

In general the whole entire game, Texas lost and struggled mightily losing midfield face-offs. Texas tried both long pole and short sticks on midfield faceoffs, neither worked this specific game.

Mid 2nd quarter Texas gets within striking @6-5, then goes down 7-5. A BYU midfielder won a faceoff, then ran solo straight to the cage for his own deserved goal. No Texas slide, ugghh.

BYU sporadically played ZONE defense, yet for the majority played man- to-man defense. Their BYU offense was simply a move-the-ball-around, dodge, pass, keep it smooth and find the open man offense. Nothing schematically earth shattering.

BYU's Mason Quick was one of their better Cougar blue and white clad players. Mason Quick's a short, speedy, rowdy bulldog ambitious shot-maker and goal scorer.

In the 2nd half, I'll save us all some time, The game got away from the Longhorns and BYU just kept scoring and separated on the scoreboard. At the end of the 3rd quarter BYU 17 - Texas Horns 8.

In the 4th quarter, with the score quite lopsided in BYU's home favor, it became garbage time. In fact in the 4th quarter KSL Sports Online streaming service turned off the game and switched the stream to what I'd guess was a local Utah Basketball game.

Overall GVM Texas Alumni Reporter Alumni thoughts and macro perspective....

Coach Lou said it was going to be a challenging schedule for the Texas Horns this year. On the road vs #2 Team in the Country, Texas played with ample fight and made for a competitive match in the 1st half. In the 2nd half BYU played up for the late arriving home Utah crowd, as the wheels fell off for our visiting Texas Horns. Is Texas good at Lacrosse this year, absolutely! BYU is better this year in 2026. BYU's stick skills, smooth offense & midfield faceoff dominance were their key strengths.

Hook Em and Horns Up, Always! --GVM

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Horns Lose to Boston College 14-13 in Double Overtime

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Falls to Boston College, 14–13 in Double Overtime George Vance McGee, Alumni Reporter – In-Person Viewer georgevance@gmail.com February 13, 2026 There’s nothing like a Friday night at Caven Field, and as a proud Texas Lacrosse alumni, I was happy to be there in person, on a balmy early spring ATX weather night. Unfortunately, this game ended in heartbreak as our Horns lost to the visiting Boston College Eagles Club Team in double overtime, 14–13. Yes = Double Overtimes. A Sluggish Start — On and Off the Field The Horns started a little sluggish, but once they found their rhythm, they really got going. The scoreboard, however, never quite did. After three or four attempts to revive the malfunctioning Caven Field scoreboard, it officially got fired. From that point on, the on-field referees were responsible for keeping time, score, and order. A rare home-field bummer for the Texas Longhorn atmosphere — but the crowd stayed engaged and present. First H...

The Scrimmage that Felt & Lived like a Game. Texas Longhorns emerge Victorious 10-8 over the Div. 3 Southwestern Pirates

Cold Night, Hot Lacrosse Action.  January 30th 2026. On a chilly cold winter night, The Texas Men's Lacrosse team began their 2026 Spring season with a Scrimmage vs the Div. 3 Level Southwestern Pirates from Georgetown, TX. It was an abundant crowd, that was well-bundled up and coated for a cold evening. Those of us fans whom did show up in person, were gifted an intense match of legit dual-team effort, timely coach strategized time-outs and impressive lacrosse gameplay action.   The game in general was refereed fairly, as both teams were able to play aggressively and yellow flag penalties were only thrown when warranted. Some basic insights I gathered from Southwestern parents and alumni in the crowd. Southwestern is a small 1,200+/- person Methodist religion based, liberal arts college, with yearly tuition at an astronomical $60,000 per year. A Southwestern parent with a son playing on the Division 3 Level team informed me their active players usually get roughly ...

A Bonanza of Central Texas Youth Lacrosse; the Texas Longhorns Hosted Weekend Tournament. Dec. 6th & 7th, 2025

--Written By Alumni Texas Lacrosse Reporter; George Vance McGee (Austin Silent Market Real Estate Broker Associate 512.657.9281 georgevance@gmail.com)   After I acquired a legal & rare parking spot in the North Loop neighborhood in the morning, I took an easy stroll over to EPOCH for a smooth and calm morning drip coffee awakening. Post caffeination, it was now time for my Texas Longhorn Lax Shootout baptismal experience. Surprisingly, this was my 1st ever in-person Longhorn Youth Tournament Weekend Experience. Simply put; There's a lot going on! The Texas Intramural Fields circa 51 & Guadalupe street are looking pristine, upgraded, green, well-kept and ready for action. I witnessed a festival of lacrosse! Every field in sight my eyes could advance and venture to was brimming with Active Youth or High Lacrosse players, coaches, parents, volunteers, friends or family. I'd guesstimate there's roughly 2 thousand + physical humans in attendance at all times on site. Sat...
