Notes & Photo Slides from attending Texas Athletic Director Mr. Chris Del Conte's Public Town Hall Forum. Feb. 4th 2026.

Notes & Photos Slides from attending Texas Athletic Director Mr. Chris Del Conte's Public Town Hall Forum @ the Touchdown Club.

Feb. 4th 2026. --George Vance McGee in-person reporting.

  • UT Athletics just covers Varsity UIL Sports
  • I was suggested to contact University Campus, in regards to public relations & media contacts for the Texas Longhorn Club Lacrosse Team.
  • CDC talked about Texas's success in regards to winning the Director's Cup, most recently just barely beating the Stanford Cardinal.
  • CDC expressed sincere gratitude for all of the student athletes and coaches.
  • Yes, Texas Longhorn Football will have a Spring Football Game this year, April 18th, 2026.
  • Royal Memorial Stadium installed 12 new "Club Private Gameday Viewing Boxes" for Texas Home football games. They all sold out, with an asking price of 10 million per 1 box. Yep 10 million for 1 season, for 1 club box. $$$
  • The Athletic Department has plans to build a brand NEW Mini-Moody Center, holding up to 7,000 people for Texas Volleyball. the Mini-Moody will also have entertainment, concerts, shows, etc. Gregory Gym is historic and energetic, but just too old.
  • CDC states, the athletic department is "self-sufficient." and separate from the scholiastic part of the University.
  • In general for Athletics, CDC prefers a grass field
  • Asked fans to continue to support the Texas One Fund, for athlete's NIL $$.
  • CDC prefers an expanded College Football Playoff; more teams to make the playoff. Currently it is just a 12 team playoff.
  • CDC would advocate to start the college football season 1 week earlier and totally abolish & eliminate the SEC Championship Game.
  • When I asked about Texas Lacrosse & REC Sports in general, CDC stated he doesn't run Rec Sports and has no control over them. He did state how good, and prosperous a program, Texas Lacrosse is! CDC roots for and wants the best for all Univ. of Texas Recreational Sports Athletes.
  • CDC states, rather than adding new Varsity sports at this time, (Lacrosse, Men's Soccer or Women's Flag Football) he just wants to focus on the sports they currently do have and to make them the best they can be.
  • He said there are currently 21 Varsity level sports.
  • One interesting tidbit, he said student enrollment at the University was currently 61%-63% percent female. So there are more Texas ladies on campus then men.
  • CDC = FOR International Athletes playing at the University of Texas and boasted of Texas Longhorns success in Olympic competition.
Overall it was an enjoyable, well-behaved Town Hall seated event. Not to be an ageist, but honestly it was very much an AARP, elderly-crowd in attendance. CDC is an excellent public speaker in regards to pace, tone, confidence and calmness. He is sharp, smart, and occasionally displays his humor skills. CDC carries a progressive one-step ahead and forward looking mindset. He is not afraid of change, unless it involves the Texas Longhorns Athletic Uniforms which he wants to remain burnt orange and white. He says, "why mess with Uniform perfection."

In my GVM personal opinion he is the best Athletic Director in the USA. Is CDC a better athletic director than Deloss Dodds was in the past? The only thing CDC is missing from his resume is a National Championship in Football.

  1. We are a way off from becoming a D1 lacrosse team....61% female enrollment at Texas means 2-3 female varsity teams first then after mens wrestling, lacrosse may be next... Title 9 is in play

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Horns Lose to Boston College 14-13 in Double Overtime

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Falls to Boston College, 14–13 in Double Overtime Scan this below QR Code to your phone, ipad, etc to make a direct $$ Donation to the University of Texas Men's Club Lacrosse Team ---Thanks and Hook' Em!  George Vance McGee, Alumni Reporter – In-Person Viewer georgevance@gmail.com February 13, 2026 There’s nothing like a Friday night at Caven Field, and as a proud Texas Lacrosse alumni, I was happy to be there in person, on a balmy early spring ATX weather night. Unfortunately, this game ended in heartbreak as our Horns lost to the visiting Boston College Eagles Club Team in double overtime, 14–13. Yes = Double Overtimes. A Sluggish Start — On and Off the Field The Horns started a little sluggish, but once they found their rhythm, they really got going. The scoreboard, however, never quite did. After three or four attempts to revive the malfunctioning Caven Field scoreboard, it officially got fired. From that point on, the on-field referees ...

The Scrimmage that Felt & Lived like a Game. Texas Longhorns emerge Victorious 10-8 over the Div. 3 Southwestern Pirates

Cold Night, Hot Lacrosse Action.  January 30th 2026. On a chilly cold winter night, The Texas Men's Lacrosse team began their 2026 Spring season with a Scrimmage vs the Div. 3 Level Southwestern Pirates from Georgetown, TX. It was an abundant crowd, that was well-bundled up and coated for a cold evening. Those of us fans whom did show up in person, were gifted an intense match of legit dual-team effort, timely coach strategized time-outs and impressive lacrosse gameplay action.   The game in general was refereed fairly, as both teams were able to play aggressively and yellow flag penalties were only thrown when warranted. Some basic insights I gathered from Southwestern parents and alumni in the crowd. Southwestern is a small 1,200+/- person Methodist religion based, liberal arts college, with yearly tuition at an astronomical $60,000 per year. A Southwestern parent with a son playing on the Division 3 Level team informed me their active players usually get roughly ...

A Bonanza of Central Texas Youth Lacrosse; the Texas Longhorns Hosted Weekend Tournament. Dec. 6th & 7th, 2025

--Written By Alumni Texas Lacrosse Reporter; George Vance McGee (Austin Silent Market Real Estate Broker Associate 512.657.9281 georgevance@gmail.com)   After I acquired a legal & rare parking spot in the North Loop neighborhood in the morning, I took an easy stroll over to EPOCH for a smooth and calm morning drip coffee awakening. Post caffeination, it was now time for my Texas Longhorn Lax Shootout baptismal experience. Surprisingly, this was my 1st ever in-person Longhorn Youth Tournament Weekend Experience. Simply put; There's a lot going on! The Texas Intramural Fields circa 51 & Guadalupe street are looking pristine, upgraded, green, well-kept and ready for action. I witnessed a festival of lacrosse! Every field in sight my eyes could advance and venture to was brimming with Active Youth or High Lacrosse players, coaches, parents, volunteers, friends or family. I'd guesstimate there's roughly 2 thousand + physical humans in attendance at all times on site. Sat...
