"Stunning" --Colorado visiting parent in reference to the Austin Texas face-off weather at 11am this Sunday morning.
1st quarter action, Texas Horns get out to an excellent start. At the end of the 1st quarter. It's Texas 4 - Colorado Buffs 0.
the 2nd quarter was a yellow penalty flag festival for both squads; man-up, man-down, hockey-esqe, ref laundry littered everywhere, 5 on 4, 4 on 5, 5 on 5, 6 on 4. It got discombobulated. The bleacher fans and I lost track.
In the 2nd quarter Colorado charges back to make it a game. Halftime Texas 6, The Visiting team from Boulder, Colorado 4.
(sidenote GVM opinion = Boulder, Colorado is one of the coolest small towns in America, if you can ever visit for fun, go.)
3rd quarter our Texas Longhorns came out aggressive and trying to win! 3rd Quarter highlight was a "POLE GOAL". a Texas longpole dman/middie made it to the offensive side and let loose a joyous straight line-drive shot, that whizzed passed the CU goalie. A pulsating and energizing "POLE GOAL," for the Caven Field fans in attendance. Texas 8 Colorado 4.
3rd and 4th quarter notepad scores:
Texas 9 CU 4
Texas 9 CU 6
Texas 10-CU 6
Texas 11 CU 6
Texas 12 CU 6
Texas 13- CU 6.
Overall general gameplay and Alumni weekend observations:
- The Texas Defense is formidable and stout. Per the consensus alumni word of mouth the defense played "lights out, our goalie was On again."
- Possible gameplay areas for Longhorn Lax improvement. the Man-Up offense was ineffective, had difficulty getting shots on cage and turned it over, often. So Man-Up needs some attention.
- The Face-Offs at Midfield, Texas continually looses. This has been a multi-game issue.
- Overall it was a feel-good Double WIN Victory weekend for Texas, inducing a jovial mood for all Texas Horn Alumni in Attendance
- Special Thanks and Horns Way Up to Don Carnes for hosting a Saturday afternoon soiree with wine, food, refreshments and ice cold shiner bocks @ his stately classy Home in the Hemphill Park neighborhood of Central ATX. Good casual fun, and talks with current players, Head Coach Lou, and the alumni.
