What a day for championship lacrosse.

Under absolutely gorgeous, cool, sunny spring skies in Melissa, Texas, the stage was set for a Sunday afternoon title clash—and the Texas Horns delivered in dominant fashion. From the opening whistle, this Texas team was ready for business!

🔥 Fast Start Sets the Tone

For a change, Texas came out firing early.

The Horns wasted no time building momentum, jumping out to a 3–1 lead, then extending it to 4–1. Crisp ball movement, aggressive dodges, and confident shooting put TCU on their heels right away.

To their credit, TCU answered with a highlight-reel, behind-the-back assist that led to a goal—cutting it to 4–2 and briefly fueling their championship hopes.

But that spark didn’t last long.

💪 Texas Takes Control

Despite TCU’s emotional semifinal win over favored SMU and their energized sideline, the Horns quickly reasserted control:

  • 5–2
  • 6–3
  • 7–3 at halftime

Interestingly, while Texas led comfortably on the scoreboard, TCU edged the time of possession battle in the first half. There was a moment of concern—could the Horns’ steady defense wear down?

That question didn’t linger long.

⚡ Second Half Surge

Texas came out of halftime with authority.

A defensive takeaway turned into a fast break goal by #41 Jack Eigen, complete with his now-signature post-goal celebration—pushing the lead to 8–3.

Then the offense kept rolling:

  • 9–3 — with key contributions from #51
  • 10–3 — powered by the relentless offensive presence of Luke Sganga, whose sidearm rocket shots from 10-15 feet outside the cage are as intimidating and deadly fast as they are effective

At this point, the outcome felt inevitable.

🎯 Championship Sealed

The highlight reel continued:

  • #39 Xander Rosen slipped in a classic crease-side sneak for 11–3
  • A welcome return from injury by #4, Griffin Shaffer who made an impact at the faceoff X, helped maintain possession and tempo
  • Texas continued to pour it on, extending the lead to 13–4

With the game well in hand, the Horns rotated in depth players, giving more of the roster a chance to experience championship minutes.

Final score:

Texas 14 — TCU 7

🟠 A Program Built to Win

This was more than just another victory—it was a statement.

The Texas Horns lacrosse program continues to prove itself as one of the premier club teams in the nation. Despite possible distraction; The Horn's entire coaching staff stayed focused on the task. The players executed, and the result is another championship trophy.

Four in a row.

✈️ What’s Next

The journey isn’t over.

With this win, Texas earns a bid to the national stage—heading to Richmond, Virginia for the USA Club National Championship TournamentThe Championships will be held from May 4-9 at the River City Sportsplex in Richmond, Virginia.

Time to pack the bags. The Horns are going national.

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Horns Lose to Boston College 14-13 in Double Overtime

Victory Slips Away at Home as Texas Falls to Boston College, 14–13 in Double Overtime Scan this below QR Code to your phone, ipad, etc to make a direct $$ Donation to the University of Texas Men's Club Lacrosse Team ---Thanks and Hook' Em!  George Vance McGee, Alumni Reporter – In-Person Viewer georgevance@gmail.com February 13, 2026 There’s nothing like a Friday night at Caven Field, and as a proud Texas Lacrosse alumni, I was happy to be there in person, on a balmy early spring ATX weather night. Unfortunately, this game ended in heartbreak as our Horns lost to the visiting Boston College Eagles Club Team in double overtime, 14–13. Yes = Double Overtimes. A Sluggish Start — On and Off the Field The Horns started a little sluggish, but once they found their rhythm, they really got going. The scoreboard, however, never quite did. After three or four attempts to revive the malfunctioning Caven Field scoreboard, it officially got fired. From that point on, the on-field referees ...

The Scrimmage that Felt & Lived like a Game. Texas Longhorns emerge Victorious 10-8 over the Div. 3 Southwestern Pirates

Cold Night, Hot Lacrosse Action.  January 30th 2026. On a chilly cold winter night, The Texas Men's Lacrosse team began their 2026 Spring season with a Scrimmage vs the Div. 3 Level Southwestern Pirates from Georgetown, TX. It was an abundant crowd, that was well-bundled up and coated for a cold evening. Those of us fans whom did show up in person, were gifted an intense match of legit dual-team effort, timely coach strategized time-outs and impressive lacrosse gameplay action.   The game in general was refereed fairly, as both teams were able to play aggressively and yellow flag penalties were only thrown when warranted. Some basic insights I gathered from Southwestern parents and alumni in the crowd. Southwestern is a small 1,200+/- person Methodist religion based, liberal arts college, with yearly tuition at an astronomical $60,000 per year. A Southwestern parent with a son playing on the Division 3 Level team informed me their active players usually get roughly ...

A Bonanza of Central Texas Youth Lacrosse; the Texas Longhorns Hosted Weekend Tournament. Dec. 6th & 7th, 2025

--Written By Alumni Texas Lacrosse Reporter; George Vance McGee (Austin Silent Market Real Estate Broker Associate 512.657.9281 georgevance@gmail.com)   After I acquired a legal & rare parking spot in the North Loop neighborhood in the morning, I took an easy stroll over to EPOCH for a smooth and calm morning drip coffee awakening. Post caffeination, it was now time for my Texas Longhorn Lax Shootout baptismal experience. Surprisingly, this was my 1st ever in-person Longhorn Youth Tournament Weekend Experience. Simply put; There's a lot going on! The Texas Intramural Fields circa 51 & Guadalupe street are looking pristine, upgraded, green, well-kept and ready for action. I witnessed a festival of lacrosse! Every field in sight my eyes could advance and venture to was brimming with Active Youth or High Lacrosse players, coaches, parents, volunteers, friends or family. I'd guesstimate there's roughly 2 thousand + physical humans in attendance at all times on site. Sat...
