The Shoulder Check Shootout Fundraiser for a Good Cause @ Caven Field University of Texas Austin. September 3rd 4 pm - 7 pm.

It is a fraternity lacrosse game for charity. A friend of two of our players from Darien, CT unfortunately took his own life a few years ago. The kids dad started this charity, Shoulder Check. It has gotten lots of movement in the sports community (ex. NHL). 


Here’s the promo for it, hopefully it provides some clarity. Happy to share more about it. 


Join us for the Shoulder Check Shootout on Thursday, September 3 at Caven Lacrosse and Sports Center (right by DKR). Warmups begin at 4:00 PM with the game starting at 5:00 PM (wrapping up around 7:00 PM). This intra-fraternity lacrosse matchup features SAE + ZBT taking on Sig Ep + Fiji. More than just a game, this event raises awareness and funds for Shoulder Check, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting mental health in young male athletes. Created in honor of Hayden Thorsen, a remarkable friend and athlete whose life was lost to suicide, Shoulder Check works to ensure that no athlete struggles alone. All ticket proceeds support mental health initiatives, resources, and peer support programs for young men in athletics. Come watch lacrosse while supporting a cause that saves lives. The Scrimmage that Felt & Lived like a Game. Texas Longhorns emerge Victorious 10-8 over the Div. 3 Southwestern Pirates

 Cold Night, Hot Lacrosse Action.  January 30th 2026. On a chilly cold winter night, The Texas Men's Lacrosse team began their 2026 Spring season with a Scrimmage vs the Div. 3 Level Southwestern Pirates from Georgetown, TX. It was an abundant crowd, that was well-bundled up and coated for a cold evening. Those of us fans whom did show up in person, were gifted an intense match of legit dual-team effort, timely coach strategized time-outs and impressive lacrosse gameplay action.   The game in general was refereed fairly, as both teams were able to play aggressively and yellow flag penalties were only thrown when warranted. Some basic insights I gathered from Southwestern parents and alumni in the crowd. Southwestern is a small 1,200+/- person Methodist religion based, liberal arts college, with yearly tuition at an astronomical $60,000 per year. Post caffeination, it was now time for my Texas Longhorn Lax Shootout baptismal experience. Surprisingly, this was my 1st ever in-person Longhorn Youth Tournament Weekend Experience. Simply put; There's a lot going on! The Texas Intramural Fields circa 51 & Guadalupe street are looking pristine, upgraded, green, well-kept and ready for action. I witnessed a festival of lacrosse! Every field in sight my eyes could advance and venture to was brimming with Active Youth or High Lacrosse players, coaches, parents, volunteers, friends or family.
